Sick

Ughhhhh..thats pretty much how I feel right now. I got sick right after the Lancaster race (where it poured rain) and rode Reading sick as well. I'm still feeling pretty god damn awful, but will still start Philly tomorrow to help the team in any way I can (don't expect me to do more than 4 or 5 laps). We rode the course today and Manayunk isn't quite as hard as I expected, but after 120+ miles, I'm sure it will be a le breaker.

In other team news, Kayle Leogrande is killing it right now. 6th place and top american at Reading. He was a little pissed to read the Velonews article which pretty much called him a fatass.

My bet for the race is wither for Eisel to make it 3 for 3 or Lagutin to pull off the win. I'll also put Borrajo and Pate in there as wildcards.

Dissapointment

Well...for me at least. Today was the Lancaster race, the first in the Triple Crown Series. It was 13 laps of a grueling 12km race totaling 85 miles. It rained the whole race making the course unbelievably sketchy but did absolutely nothing to deter the speed of the race. I finally got popped after 9.5 laps and found out from one of my teammates that the pace mellowed right after I got dropped till the last .5 laps. I felt good most of the race but just ran out of energy right when I needed it. Hopefully Thursday will go better. Kayle..top 15 I think.

'Bout time

I've finally decided to join the rest of the blogging world. I've always tried to stray away from starting a blog just because I've always been afraid of saying the wrong thing. Afraid of saying something wrong about a sponsor, team, racer, life etc. Lately, I've been trying hard to avoid controversy and I really don't know why. Then I remembered that there is such thing as a delete button and I was set to go.

It's quite funny actually, I've finally realized why so many cyclists have blogs...at least I think. It's not so much to inform fans and family of their coming and goings, but rather due to the fact that being a cyclist can be so damn boring at times. This is personally the first year I have taken time off school to concentrate fully on my career as a cyclist. The last year and a half (through last March actually) I have been attending UC Davis (a Neurology, Physiology and Biology Major) and absolutely love it. I never realized how much I loved it however until I was out of school.

School just balances me out

It truly does. You see, I've never been one to just sit down and relax. Even as a kid my parents couldn't stop me from playing ten different sports at once. As a cyclist however, I find that there tends to be a lot of downtime. Yes...we train a lot...probably a lot more than most sports...but the rest of our time is devoted to relaxing. Living in a total college town with college roommates tends to demoralize (not sure if thats even really the right word) me.

Is it weird that I like to be in school and taking 17 units at a time? Is it weird that I like having to find ways to schedule training camps and midterms at the same time?

It might be, but it keeps me sane. I haven't decided yet what to do with my life (and why should I, I'm only twenty years old). But I feel its too early to be devoting my life entirely to one thing. I can only hope that next year, I can once again pursue cycling and school at the same time.

Can't say that I am totally unhappy though....

I've been having a blast this year with the new team. They are supporting us really well and it's great having someone like Frankie Andreau as a director. I've tried the whole racing in Europe thing...and right now, I don't know if I am ready for the whole rigidity and seriousness of it. Maybe some time...but now now.

Philly week starts Sunday. Boy won't that be fun. Lancaster, Reading and the Internatioanl. I've been riding well right now, couple top 20 GC finsihes in some NRC races and I'm hoping to go into these races wiith some good form so that I might concentrate more on producing something rather than being pack fill.

Right now however, I'm going to do what most cyclists do in their dowtime. Throw my legs up, watch a good episode of scrubs and go back to reading blogs.
